Your Health, Our Priority: Remember your OTSU Health Plan This Winter!
Hi Ridgebacks! The weather is getting colder, and with those inevitable gusts of snow, winter will officially be here—not to mention cold and flu season.
But not to worry, the OTSU has a health plan for that!
All full-time students are automatically enrolled in our comprehensive health plan, which is comprised of three pillars of health and wellness supports:
My Student Plan
- Provides coverage for physical health expenses including, vision, dental, paramedical, travel insurance, prescription drugs, and more. Learn more.
- Register your Canada Life account to begin using your benefits.
My Wellness
- Provides resources and coverage for mental health, including mental health assessments and confidential online counseling. Learn more.
My Virtual Doctor
- Provides 24/7 online access to qualified medical care for you and your family. Learn more.
- myVirtualDoctor is powered through Dialogue. Set up your Dialogue account here to get started.
Your Health Matters
The OTSU strives to ensure that every Ontario Tech student is able to access medicare when they need it. We know that being a student can be tough even when we’re in peak form, and no one needs the added stress of worrying about health care costs, accessing medical professionals, or finding mental health support.
Your health plan includes:
- Comprehensive coverage for most major health care needs, including dental, vision, prescription drugs, medical equipment, and more.
- My Virtual Doctor, which offers 24/7 access to qualified medical professionals for both domestic and international students, ensures you can receive care when you need it most.
- Confidential online counseling
- And so much more
Convenience Matters
Being a student means being busy—labs, group work, part time jobs, co-ops—sometimes, we can’t afford to spend a whole day in a clinic. We’ve tried to make accessing health care as simple and painless as possible.
- Meet virtually with a licensed professional for diagnosis and prescriptions
- Submit claims online and opt-in family members by the deadline
- Meet online with trained therapists on your schedule (and you don't pay until you’re connected with someone you’re comfortable with)
- You have a dedicated health plan coordinator ready to help with any question
There’s a lot of information here, and we know it can be confusing trying to find where to start. We recommend reading through the Heath & Dental Plan page at OTSU.ca to get a better grasp of it all. And if you ever have any questions, remember your dedicated health plan coordinator is just a click away.
As always, if you want to talk to me about anything OTSU student life or OTSU services related, you can book an appointment with me at otsu.ca/contact-us/appointments.
