Every June, Ontario Tech University celebrates Pride Month in recognition of the progress made to achieve equal rights and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual) individuals.

Pride Month takes place in June, commemorating the social activism resulting from June 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City. The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement and 2SLGBTQIA+ activism.

Pride Month honours 2SLGBTQIA+ voices and experiences while drawing attention to issues members of the community still face, and highlights the continued importance of resisting various forms of transphobia, biphobia and homophobia.

Join Ontario Tech Pride Month celebrations

The university is committed to active allyship and building a thriving and accepting campus with our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Join us in celebrating Pride Month at one of our several signature events:

It’s Bigger than PRIDE! workshop

Ontario Tech’s culture reflects and understands the values of our individuals and our institution’s core values of respect, diversity and inclusion.

To build a sustainable culture you must first understand the landscape around you and all the different elements that comprise it.

The It’s Bigger than PRIDE! Workshop hosted by Sara Luther, Human Rights Lawyer and Founder of Forwardworking, will guide you through her Colours of Culture model to better understand your workplace landscape, what’s working, what needs improvement, and how we can all do something to make our culture better for all.

It’s Bigger than PRIDE! details:

  • When: Friday, June 28, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Energy Research Centre, Room 2056

Register using the It's Bigger than PRIDE! web form.
