Ontario Tech’s Dr. Barbara Perry appointed to the Order of Canada

Ontario Tech University proudly celebrates Dr. Barbara Perry, a global expert on hate crime, for her appointment to the Order of Canada—one of the country’s highest honours.

As Founding Director of the university’s Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism, Dr. Perry’s research shapes public understanding, supports victims of violence and extremism, and informs policymakers and community leaders. Her work reflects Ontario Tech’s commitment to building a safer, more inclusive society.

Dr. Perry’s appointment, announced by the Governor General on December 18, highlights her extraordinary and sustained contributions to Canada and beyond. She will be officially honoured at a ceremony in 2025.
