Ontario Tech marks National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is a time to remember those who have experienced gender-based violence and those who we have lost to it.

December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by Parliament, the day commemorates the anniversary of the École Polytechnique de Montréal massacre, in which 14 women were murdered in a tragic and senseless act of gender-based violence:

This year, the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) will host its annual commemorative event:

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence underway through Friday, December 10

December 6 falls within the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign that kicked off November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and continues through Friday, December 10 (Human Rights Day).

Ontario Tech and Durham College have partnered to provide events and resources related to this campaign.  For more information, visit the university’s and college’s joint Days of Activism website.
