The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is a time to remember those who have experienced gender-based violence and those we have lost to it, and commit to taking action as a community to end gender-based violence.

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and Women in Engineering Sub-Society at Ontario Tech University invite the campus and local community to a memorial ceremony to remember the victims of the École Polytechnique de Montréal Massacre.

The memorial will consist of a ceremony to recognize the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women with the lighting of candles, a reading of the victims’ names, a moment of silence, and a few speakers from the Ontario Tech community.

The ceremony will remember and honour the women who lost their lives that day and provide an opportunity for the campus community to share stories and reflect on the violence that remains a daily reality for girls and women around the world.

  • When: Friday, December 6 from 11 a.m. to noon.
  • Where: Energy Research Centre Atrium

The ceremony will be livestreamed on Ontario Tech's website beginning at 11 a.m.
