
Ontario Tech University annually awards prestigious entrance scholarships to seven outstanding incoming students. The scholarship program’s five categories recognize secondary school students with exceptional achievements in academics, leadership and community involvement throughout their high school career.
This year, twin brothers from Markham are among the recipients. Cyrus Tsui won one of two President’s Scholarships, while his brother Tyrus was one of two Founder’s Scholarship winners. All 2025-2026 recipients are listed below.

Ontario Tech’s major entrance scholarships
- Chancellor’s Scholarship: One valued at $36,000 ($9,000 a year x four years)
- President’s Scholarship: Two valued at $30,000 each ($7,500 a year x four years)
- Founder’s Scholarship: Two valued at $24,000 each ($6,000 a year x four years)
- FIRST Robotics Canada Scholarship: One valued at $12,000 ($3,000 a year x four years)
- Global Leadership Award: One valued at $120,000 ($30,000 a year x four years)
2025-2026 recipients
Chancellor’s Scholarship
- Marisa Pirrera (Medical Laboratory Science) of Stoney Creek is a passionate advocate for health and wellness who has made a lasting impact on her high school community. Her commitment to community extends to her future educational and professional goals. At Ontario Tech, she plans to become an involved student leader. With long-term goals of becoming a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Marisa is driven by a desire to help others.
President’s Scholarships (2)
- Yusuf Patel (Health Sciences) of Markham has demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion and initiative through his tireless advocacy for mental health and student support. Yusuf has a passion for helping other students succeed academically and offers personalized tutoring, study resources and a welcoming environment for collaborative learning where he empowers others to gain confidence. At Ontario Tech, he plans to carry this momentum forward by committing to building inclusive, supportive spaces to support others both academically and emotionally.
- Cyrus Tsui (Biological Science and Co-op) of Markham exemplifies leadership grounded in empathy, cultural awareness and community service. After immigrating to Canada four years ago, he quickly turned his own experience into an opportunity to mentor other newcomer students. While at Ontario Tech, he hopes to take on a leadership role by organizing mentorship programs and cultural events to support newcomers and promote cross-cultural exchange.
Founder’s Scholarship (2)
- Tyrus Tsui (Biological Science Co-op) of Markham is excited to merge his passions with student life by founding new clubs that foster community, provide stress relief and create inclusive spaces for connection and creativity. Through small class sizes, hands-on learning, and a co-op program, he aims to gain the foundational knowledge and practical experience necessary for his pursuit to attend dental school. He looks forward to mentorship opportunities and workshops that will strengthen his professional path.
- Aditdi Senthil Kumar (Criminology and Justice) of Whitby exemplifies what it means to be a community-driven leader. From leading fundraising campaigns and youth mentorship programs to executing multi-day camps and community service projects, she has consistently demonstrated initiative, adaptability and an unwavering dedication to uplifting others. With aspirations of becoming a lawyer or police officer, Aditdi is pursuing a path that combines justice, service and impact.
FIRST Robotics Canada Scholarship
- William Bellerby (Automotive Engineering and Co-op) from Mississauga is excited to pursue his passion for cars in the Automotive Engineering program. He feels lucky to have had a mentor who helped him prepare for university and encourages other students to seek out mentorship opportunities. William is looking forward to exploring all that university life has to offer, including the robotics team.
Global Leadership Award (International)
- Marie Ange Nishimwe Ingabire (Chemistry and Co-op) from Musanze, Rwanda has a combination of creative talent, community leadership and a powerful vision for the future. At Ontario Tech, she plans to merge her love for storytelling with cultural representation by starting a theatre club that highlights underrepresented cultures with the goal of fostering belonging and cross-cultural understanding. She is also eager to support mental health advocacy and contribute to a collaborative academic environment. Looking ahead, she envisions herself becoming a pharmaceutical chemist, founding a pharmacy that provides affordable, locally manufactured medicine while supporting farmers and creating jobs in her home community.
