Ridgebacks Add Scoring Touch With the Addition of Dowson

Ontario Tech Women's Hockey secures commitment from offensive dynamo Avery Dowson.

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Ontario Tech women's hockey team is pleased to announce the recruitment of St. Thomas native, Avery Dowson.

The forward joins Ontario Tech after four years with the London Devilettes where she was the assistant captain. In 2023 Dowson led her team with 29 points, 19 goals and 10 assists including four goals in a single game.

Dowson led her high school team, St. Joseph's, as the team captain after scoring the most goals on the team, 16 goals in only 13 games. Dawson accounted for half of her team's goals this past season.

"We are very excited to announce Avery's commitment to the Ridgebacks for the 2024-25 season," said head coach Kassidy Nauboris. "Avery is an excellent skater who utilizes her speed to create plays at both ends of the ice. We can't wait to start working with her this fall!"

Dowson played on an all-boys AAA spring hockey team as the only girl and one of the two underage players in the league at the time where she helped her team become an Alliance Tournament Finalist.

This upcoming fall, Dowson will enroll in a Psychology Bachelor of Science.
