Welk and Seyed named Ontario Tech athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Zubair Seyed of men's basketball and Kayla Welk of women's hockey have been named Ontario Tech athletes of the week for the period ending on November 17.
Seyed is currently leading the no. 9 ranked Ridgebacks in scoring with 21.8 points per game. This weekend, he continued his hot start with 15 points, five assists, and five steals against the Laurier Golden Hawks. He followed it up with a 28-point, five-rebound performance against the Waterloo Warriors.
Welk kicked off the weekend for the women's hockey Ridgebacks with a hat-trick in the 7-3 win over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night.
The Ontario Tech men's basketball team is returning back to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Friday, November 22, for a game against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. The women's hockey team will play their last game of the calendar year at home on Saturday, November 23, against the visiting Brock Badgers.
