Langkow’s 39 saves lift Ridgebacks over Thunderwolves

OSHAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech's Beckett Langkow delivered a masterclass between the pipes Friday night, turning away all 39 shots faced to backstop the Ridgebacks to a 3-0 win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves in U SPORTS men's hockey action.

The Ridgebacks opened the scoring late in the first period with a power-play goal from Cullen McLean, assisted by Duston Hutton and Antoine Desrochers. They doubled their lead in the third when Ludovic Dufort buried his first of the season off feeds from Jeremy Michaud and Justin Svenson. Andrew Suriyuth sealed the victory with an empty-net short-handed goal, assisted by Kyle Leonard, in the final minute.

Lakehead couldn't solve Langkow despite ample chances, including five power-play opportunities. The Ridgebacks' penalty kill was flawless, and their defence held strong in a high-tempo third period.

The Ridgebacks will be back in action tomorrow at 5 p.m. when they take on the Western Mustangs at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
