Ontario Tech loses late lead in 4-3 thriller
OSHAWA, Ont. – A roller-coaster showdown saw the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks edged out 4-3 by the Windsor Lancers in a close OUA matchup Saturday afternoon.
Despite a relentless back-and-forth effort, Ontario Tech couldn't capitalize in the final minutes. Harrie Jones led the Ridgebacks' offence with two power-play goals, while Julia Jackson added a late equalizer in the first period. Windsor came out strong early, scoring twice within the first five minutes. Maggie Mitani opened the scoring on a power play, with Teagan Pare quickly doubling Windsor's lead. Ontario Tech rallied back, tying the game before the first intermission.
The teams traded goals in the second period, with Windsor's Keana McKibbin finding the net first, but Jones responded for the Ridgebacks. Windsor's Makayla Mailhot ultimately sealed the deal with her third-period goal, snapping the 3-3 deadlock.
The Ridgebacks will now head to Waterloo on Friday, November 8 to take on the Warriors.
