Russell named OUA second team all-star
OSHAWA, Ont. – Defender Abbie Russell has been named as an OUA Second Team All-Star after a stand out season with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
Russell has been a consistent contributor along the back line for the Ridgebacks over her first two years on campus, and has carved out a name for herself as a physical, hard nosed defender. This year, she was named Ontario Tech athlete of the week for the period ending on Sunday, September 29 after an impressive performance against the Trent Excalibur where the Ridgebacks won 2-0.
"Abbie quickly made an impact on our program, and it's incredible to see her honoured for her efforts on the field," said head coach Audra Sherman. "She's a physical presence on our backline, and improves everyone around her. Congratulations, Abbie!"
