Russell stuns Voyageurs with late goal in Sudbury
The Ontario Tech women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, taking the Laurentian Voyageurs down 1-0 on the road.
SUDBURY, Ont – The Ontario Tech women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, taking the Laurentian Voyageurs down 1-0 on the road.
The Ridgebacks dominated possession of the ball and found themselves with 17 shots on goal while holding Laurentian to just two.
Samantha Russell (Georgetown, Ont.) would find a way through the Voyageurs' defense in the 86th moment to put the Ridgebacks up in the game's final moments.
The Ridgebacks will now finish their northern road trip with a stop in North Bay, Ont. to take on the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday. Ontario Tech will return home on Sunday, September 29, to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Vaso's Field.
