OTTAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech women's hockey ran into an Ottawa side that capitalized on its chances early, as the Ridgebacks were handed a 6–2 loss by the Gee-Gees on Friday night.
The Ottawa Gee-Gees struck twice late in the opening period, including a power-play goal, to take a 2–0 lead into the first intermission. The hosts continued to press in the second, adding three goals to build separation.
Ontario Tech got on the board at 9:13 of the middle frame when Emily Harrison finished a play from Cassandra Delves and Julia Jackson to cut into the deficit. Ottawa answered just over a minute later with another power-play marker to restore momentum.
The Ridgebacks added a second goal in the third period as Robyn Storey found the back of the net off a feed from Zoe Wilson, but Ottawa responded shortly after to close out the scoring.
Zoe McGee turned aside 33 shots for Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, as the Gee-Gees held a 39–26 edge in shots on goal.
Ontario Tech returns to action tomorrow when they visit the Carleton Ravens.
