Ridgebacks lose first game of home-and-home series with Queen's
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team dropped the first game of the home-and-home series with the Queen's Gaels 5-1 on Friday evening.
The Gaels' Sophy Aldred opened the scoring early, finding the net at 1:41 of the first period, assisted by Rebecca Thompson. Aldred returned the favour later, setting up Thompson for a second goal in the opening frame. Kelsey Dunn, Alyson Reeves, and Taya Leonard rounded out the scoring for Queen's, with Leonard sealing the win with a late third-period goal.
Ontario Tech's only tally came midway through the second period when Julia Jackson converted on assists from Milana Perri and Avery Dowson. Despite consistent pressure, the Ridgebacks couldn't capitalize on their five power-play opportunities.
The Ridgebacks will look to defend home ice tomorrow night when they host Alumni Night with the Queen's Gaels coming to the Campus Ice Centre at 7 p.m.
