Winter 2022
January 10 – Michael Bullion signs pro contract with Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL, leaving the Ridgebacks as the OUA pauses the 2021-22 season. Alongside Bullion, Matthieu Gomercic signed with the Atlanta Gladiators, Austin Eastman signed with the ECHL's Swamp Rabbits, while Cameron Hough joins the Wheeling Nailers.
January 20 – Christopher Campoli is drafted by the HFX Wanderers in the 2022 CPL-U SPORTS draft. It is the second year Campoli has had the opportunity to join the professional ranks in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) after being drafted fourth overall in 2021 by York United FC.
March 9 – The women's hockey program made their return to the postseason for the first time since 2014, falling 4-2 at home to the Queen's Gaels.
March 13 – Ontario Tech hosts inaugural Shoot for Change anti-racism basketball game against the Nipissing Lakers. The goal of the game was to unify the two schools to bring an end to racism, discrimination and prejudice.
March 16 – Jack Patterson scores three times as men's hockey defeat the Concordia Stingers to advance to the second round of the Queen's Cup playoffs. This is the second time for the program since beating Queen's in the opening round in 2014-15.
March 17 – Alumnus Loren Ulett signs AHL contract with the Ontario Reign (LA Kings affiliate). Ulett was notified mid-game, playing for Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL, that he'd been called to play for the Reign, where he filled a spot on a PTO (professional tryout contract).
March 17 – A record five OUA awards were presented to the women's hockey program, headlined by Megan Johnston winning most sportsmanlike and Justin Caruana winning coach of the year awards. Brooke Vial and Natalie Wozney were named second team all-stars, while Zoe McGee was named to the all-rookie team.
March 18-20 – Ontario Tech hosts their first national championship, welcoming Canada's best badminton players for the YONEX University & College National Championship.
March 21 – Treyton Cowell becomes the first Ontario Tech curler to be named an OUA all-star. The Ridgeback second was recognized following his performance at the OUA championship.
March 22 – Noah McMullin and Matthew Barron of the men's hockey team are recognized as OUA all-stars. Barron was also named to the all-rookie team.
March 25 - Emmeline Meens-Miller (women's rowing) and Danielle Bates (dance) were named winners this week as part of Ontario Tech University's 10th annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
March 29 – The Ontario Tech athletic department celebrated a record 80 student-athlete academic award winners on at the Ridgebacks' annual Academic Award Brunch presented by the Office of the Provost. These were in celebration of the 2020-21 academic year.
April 6 - Ontario Tech held its 15th annual athletic awards gala, where student-athletes were recognized for their exceptional achievements. Capping off the night, Kierstyn Hawke of the women's rowing team and Christopher Campoli of the men's soccer teams were named athletes of the year.
April 10 – Ontario Tech's Emily Davis-Tope (Bendigo, Australia) is named to the Australian national team for the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) World Championships.
