Ridgebacks show grit but fall to Gaels
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks showed flashes of promise Wednesday night but ultimately fell short against the visiting Queen's Gaels, losing 74–46 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Despite a strong start that saw the Ridgebacks hold an early three-point lead, Queen's quickly took control. Led by Katrina Renon's dominant 23-point performance, including 10 rebounds, the Gaels pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back. Mikayla McFarlane added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the visitors, while Brooke Hussey chipped in 14 points and six steals.
Ontario Tech's Brianna Morrison stood out with 19 points while Ayat Weber contributed 14 rebounds to the effort. Kaleah Gosse also added eight points and three steals to the total.
The Ridgebacks will now head to Kingston, Ont. to take on the Gaels for the second game of the home-and-home series with Queen's.
