Ridgebacks hang tough with nationally ranked Ravens
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team put together one of its strongest offensive outings of the season, but a late push wasn't enough in a 76–70 loss to the Carleton Ravens on Sunday afternoon at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Ontario Tech hung with the nationally ranked Ravens throughout the game, shooting over 40 per cent from the field and knocking down 11 three-pointers. Kaleah Gosse led the Ridgebacks with 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting, including four from beyond the arc. Adra Barnet added 10 points, while Elliot Cowan chipped in 11 in another solid outing.
Carleton was paced by a dominant performance from Kyana-Jade Poulin, who finished with 30 points and five assists. Jacqueline Urban added a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Ravens led 41–37 at halftime, but Ontario Tech surged ahead briefly in the third quarter before Carleton responded with a 21-point frame to restore control. Despite a late push sparked by Gosse and Barnet, Carleton held on in the final minutes.
Amarachi Achioso contributed eight points and four assists for Ontario Tech before fouling out, while Brianna Morrison and Felicity Villarin each added important minutes off the bench.
Ontario Tech returns to action on Thursday, November 14 when they travel north to face the Nipissing Lakers.
