HAMILTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team fell to McMaster 86-51 to open their season on the road.

In the first quarter, McMaster established a commanding lead over Ontario Tech with a 23-10 advantage. McMaster's offensive efficiency was evident as they made 9 of 19 baskets, including 4 of 8 from beyond the arc, while the Ridgebacks struggled, hitting only 4 of 20 shots and 1 of 8 from three-point range. McMaster also dominated the boards with 17 total rebounds, compared to the Ridgebacks' 10, and capitalized on the Ridgebacks' 10 turnovers, leading to 5 points off turnovers.

In the second quarter, McMaster outscored the Ridgebacks 24-10, extending their lead prominently. McMaster displayed a strong defensive performance with 4 steals and 14 total rebounds, including 10 on the defensive end, while the Ridgebacks struggled with 6 turnovers and only 4 total rebounds. McMaster's offensive efficiency was evident as they shot 50% from the field (8-16), with Amy Stinson contributing significantly with two three-pointers and a total of 7 points, while the Ridgebacks managed only 20% (3-15) from the field.

The Ridgebacks outscored McMaster 20-13 in the third quarter, narrowing the deficit to 20 points. The Ridgebacks shot 7-for-16 from the field, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and went 4-for-7 at the free-throw line. McMaster struggled from three-point range, going 0-for-6, and managed just 6-for-24 overall shooting in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, McMaster outscored the Ridgebacks 26-11, closing the game with a commanding 86-51 victory. McMaster was efficient from the field, making 10 of 19 shots, including 5 three-pointers, and their bench contributed 12 points. The Ridgebacks struggled with shooting, hitting only 4 of 17 shots and committing 6 turnovers, despite grabbing 10 rebounds. McMaster's defense was pivotal with 6 steals, while the Ridgebacks managed only 1.

Kaleah Gosse stood out as a top performer for the Ridgebacks with a game-high of 16 points, including four three-pointers, and led the team in rebounds with 11. Amarachi Achioso contributed significantly with eight points, two rebounds, and three assists. Allie Dunnett delivered an impactful performance from beyond the arc, scoring three three-pointers for a total of nine points. Ayat Weber showcased strong defensive skills, securing seven rebounds and blocking two shots. These players were instrumental in their respective roles during the game.

The Ridgebacks play again on Sunday night when they take on the York Lions on the road.
