Metaj and Russell named Ontario Tech Athletes of the Week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Erion Metaj of men's soccer and Abbie Russell of women's soccer have been named Ontario Tech Athletes of the Week for the period ending on August 31.
Russell and the women's soccer team made their season debut this weekend against the Toronto Varsity Blues and Ottawa Gee-Gees, where Russell was a key part of the Ontario Tech defence.
Metaj continued where he left off in OUA play last season, notching two goals against the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday, August 31 to pick up their first win of the season.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action tonight when they face the Durham Lords in the annual Campus Cup, with gates opening at 5 p.m. They'll return to OUA action later in the week, with the men's team returning to Vaso's Field on September 7 to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs, and the women's team taking on the Trent Excalibur at home on September 4 at 5:30 p.m.
