Orr and Caprietta named Ontario Tech athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. – Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.) of lacrosse and Jeremy Caprietta (Whitby, Ont.) of men's soccer have been named the Ontario Tech athletes of the week for the period ending on Sunday, September 15.
Orr has been a frequent winner of the athlete of the week award over the past two seasons, and this weekend she led the Ridgebacks lacrosse team to a victory on the road in Kingston this past week, scoring five of her seven goals in a 15-5 win against McGill.
The Ridgebacks men's soccer program faced two nationally ranked teams at Vaso's Field this weekend, the Carleton Ravens and TMU Bold. The Ridgebacks battled with the Bold to a 2-2 draw, with a dramatic goal coming in the dying minutes to pull the Ridgebacks to even. Caprietta played a role in slowing the Bold's offensive attack in the midfield, and made several key passes to help advance the Ridgebacks attack.
The women's lacrosse team will host two games at Vaso's Field on Sunday, September 22, against Guelph and Laurier. The men's soccer team will take the pitch on the road against Laurentian on Saturday, September 21, and then play Nippissing the following day.
