Playoffs next for Ridgebacks after tight road test
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team closed out the regular season on Saturday, February 14, dropping a 3–2 decision to the Queen's Gaels.
After surrendering the opening goal in the first period, Ontario Tech responded early in the second when Harrie Jones buried her eighth of the season at 2:09, finishing a play set up by Emily Harrison to tie the game 1–1. The Gaels regained the lead later in the frame, sending the Ridgebacks into the third period trailing by one.
Ontario Tech answered again in the final frame as Mackenna Krulicki converted on the power play at 6:36, with Zoe Wilson picking up the assist, evening the contest at 2–2. The Ridgebacks continued to press and finished the night with a 35–33 edge in shots, but were unable to find the go-ahead marker. Zoe McGee turned aside 30 shots in net.
Cassandra Delves also reached a milestone in the contest, skating in her 100th career game as a Ridgeback.
The Ridgebacks will now turn their focus to the OUA Playoffs, where they are set to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Date and time are to be determined. Stay tuned to goridgebacks.com for more information as it becomes available.
