Ridgebacks hand Toronto first loss of the season
TORONTO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's soccer team handed the Toronto Varsity Blues their first loss of the season with a 3-1 road victory Sunday afternoon at Varsity Stadium.
Ontario Tech struck early as Imran Abdulatif netted his first goal of the season in the sixth minute, finishing a setup from Erion Metaj.
The Ridgebacks doubled their lead in the 61st minute when Christian Keshishian scored his fourth of the year, assisted by Alex Maadanian. After Toronto cut the deficit, Ontario Tech sealed the win at full time with Maadanian scoring his first of the season.
Goalkeeper Peter Sheberstov was sharp, making five saves to earn his third win of the year. Ontario Tech finished with 18 total shots, including eight on target, while also winning five corner kicks.
The Ridgebacks will return to Vaso's Field on Thursday, September 25 when they host the annual OUA Anti-Racism Awareness Week game against the Queen's Gaels at 6 p.m.
