Ridgebacks rally in third but McGill holds on
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team welcomed Ridgeback alumni and their families back to campus on Saturday, hosting an alumni game ahead of their matchup with the McGill Redbirds.
Before puck drop, the Ridgebacks held a pre-game ceremony to honour the legacy of former player Mike Robinson, whose impact on the program continues to be felt.
Once the game began, Ontario Tech battled but came up short in a 4–2 loss to McGill.
The Redbirds opened the scoring late in the first period and added another early in the second to take a 2–0 lead. Ontario Tech responded minutes later when Nathan Poole converted a feed from Zachary Marquis and Antoine Desrochers to make it 2–1.
McGill restored its two-goal cushion with under three minutes remaining, but the Ridgebacks answered quickly as Ludovic Dufort scored at 17:52 of the third, assisted by Gabriel Bernier and Ben Roode.
Ontario Tech pushed for the equalizer with the goalie pulled, but McGill sealed the result with an empty-net goal at 18:24.
Edouard Gauthier finished with 22 saves for the Ridgebacks, who recorded 30 shots.
Ontario Tech returns to the Campus Ice Centre on November 23 when they host the Concordia Stingers at 5 p.m.
