Ridgebacks strike early, hold off late RMC push
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team picked up a hard-fought 2–1 road win over the RMC Paladins on Wednesday night in Kingston, Ont.
Ontario Tech opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the game as Braiden Koran found the back of the net, assisted by Owen Kerr, to give the Ridgebacks an early lead. After a scoreless middle frame, the Ridgebacks doubled their advantage early in the third when Gabriel Bernier converted on the power play, with assists from Justin Svenson and Alex Drover.
RMC cut the deficit in half at 14:49 of the third on a goal from Liam Serviss, but that was as close as the Paladins would get.
Beckett Langkow was steady between the pipes, stopping 21 of 22 shots for the win. RMC's Ethan Morrow turned aside 36 shots in the loss.
The Ridgebacks will be back on the road this weekend when they take on the Queen's Gaels on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Kingston, Ont.
