Ridgebacks close weekend with 5-3 win over Carleton

A third-period surge lifted the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to a 5-3 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night, as special teams played a key role in the win.

OSHAWA, Ont. — A third-period surge lifted the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to a 5-3 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night, as special teams played a key role in the win.

Cullen McLean and Duston Hutton each tallied power-play goals early in the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie and setting the Ridgebacks on course for their 10th win of the season. Matt Wisener added an even-strength goal, while Beckett Langkow made 33 saves in net to secure the victory.

The teams traded goals in the first period, with Justin Svenson and Andrew Suriyuth scoring for Ontario Tech, while Carleton's Braeden Virtue and Reese Belton responded. A scoreless second period set the stage for the Ridgebacks' dominant final frame, where their power play capitalized twice to put the game out of reach.

Alex Johnston added a late power-play goal for Carleton, but it was too little, too late as Ontario Tech closed out the win.
