Ridgebacks win big in Montreal

Ontario Tech capitalized on its chances and delivered a strong defensive effort Friday afternoon, securing a 5-1 road victory over Concordia.

MONTREAL, Que. – Ontario Tech capitalized on its chances and delivered a strong defensive effort Friday afternoon, securing a 5-1 road victory over Concordia.

Kyle Leonard got the Ridgebacks on the board just 2:34 into the game, finishing a setup from Ludovic Dufort and Duston Hutton. Ontario Tech extended its lead in the second, with Hutton striking at 10:22 before Antoine Desrochers buried a power-play goal at 15:38. The Ridgebacks kept rolling in the third, as Andrew Suriyuth and Gabriel Bernier added goals to put the game out of reach.

Goaltender Beckett Langkow was outstanding, turning aside 36 of 37 shots for Ontario Tech. Concordia's lone goal came with just seven seconds left, as Kyle Havlena scored on the power play with help from Blake Richardson and Vincent Fredette.

Jordan Naylor made 10 saves in the loss for the Stingers, who struggled to solve Ontario Tech's penalty kill and could not recover from an early deficit.
