Hotdogs and hockey: Ridgebacks battle on Toonie Dog Night
OSHAWA, Ont. – Despite a strong push in the second period, the Ontario Tech men's hockey team fell 4–1 to the Queen's Gaels on Friday, November 14 at the Campus Ice Centre.
The game was part of Toonie Dog Night, where fans packed the stands for two-dollar hotdogs and a chance to win a pair of AirPods.
Queen's jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the opening period, scoring at 4:11 and again at 13:45. Ontario Tech responded midway through the second when Ludovic Dufort buried his sixth of the season off a setup from Ishan Mittoo and Duston Hutton. The Ridgebacks outshot the Gaels 11–7 in the frame, carrying momentum into the intermission.
An early third-period goal from the Gaels restored the two-goal gap before Queen's added an empty-net marker in the final minute to seal the result. Beckett Langkow stopped 21 shots in the loss.
Ontario Tech now shifts its attention to Saturday, November 15, when they host McGill in the Mike Robinson Memorial Game, honouring the legacy of former Ridgeback Mike "Mikey Robs" Robinson.
