Groleau and Seyed named Ontario Tech athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont – Jasmine Groleau of women's curling and Zubair Seyed on men's basketball have been named Ontario Tech athletes of the week for the period ending on Sunday, February 2.
Seyed helped the Ridgebacks take down the no. 8 ranked Carleton Ravens over the weekend with a last second buzzer beater that secured a 66-64 win. He also had 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals on the game. That performance was followed up with another solid showing against the Ottawa Gee-Gees where Seyed had 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Groleau and the Ridgebacks women's curling team traveled to Sudbury, Ont. this weekend to compete in the OUA Women's Curling Championship. They started the weekend with a big 6-4 win over the Western Mustangs, and just narrowly missed out on advancing in the championship with a 5-4 loss to the Windsor Lancers.
The women's curling season has come to an end, but the Ridgebacks basketball teams will be back on campus in two weeks when they Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees starting on February 14.
