Ridgebacks push Gee-Gees to the wire
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks put up a fight but fell short against the Ottawa Gee-Gees, dropping a 83-77 decision Friday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Zubair Seyed led the Ridgebacks with 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting, including three three-pointers. Emmanuel Okonkwo contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Raeshaun Ambris added 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
Ottawa took a 21-16 lead after the first quarter, but Ontario Tech responded with a strong second frame, outscoring the visitors 24-20 to trail by just one at halftime. The Gee-Gees extended their lead in the third, and while the Ridgebacks made a late push, they couldn't close the gap.
The Ridgebacks wrap up the regular season portion of their schedule tomorrow at 8 p.m. when they take on the Carleton Ravens.
