Ridgebacks improve to 2-0 with win at York
NORTH YORK, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team is 2-0 after an 86-82 victory against the York Lions on the road.
The Ridgebacks entered Sunday's game with several key players out and fell behind early, trailing 22-18 after one quarter. Raeshaun Ambris led the charge as the Ridgebacks mounted a 27 point second quarter to stay in the game. Ambris had 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists on the game.
The back and fourth battle continued in the second half, with the Ridgebacks seeing double-digit contributions all five starters. Tombe Pitia had 18 points and five rebounds. Caleb Kassa had 16 points, while Ayub Nurhussien and Emmanuel Okonkwo had 12 points each.
Next up for the Ridgebacks is their home opener at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre when the Western Mustangs stop by on Friday, November 1 at 8 p.m.
