Ridgebacks stamp ticket to playoffs
OSHAWA, Ont. – With the game hanging in the balance, Ayub Nurhussien delivered the dagger.
Nurhussien drilled a clutch three-pointer in the dying moments as the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks secured a 71-61 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Saturday, punching their ticket to the OUA playoffs.
The Ridgebacks (10-12) leaned on strong performances from Zubair Seyed and Nurhussien. Seyed led all scorers with 22 points while adding six rebounds and six assists. Nurhussien finished with 20 points, shooting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Ontario Tech started strong, taking a 19-15 lead after the first quarter. Carleton fought back in the second, but the Ridgebacks held on for a 32-32 tie at halftime. The teams traded baskets in the third before Ontario Tech pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Ravens 22-13.
Emmanuel Okonkwo added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Ridgebacks, while Carleton's Xavier Spencer had 24 points in a losing effort.
The Ridgebacks now look forward to a match up with the Brock Badgers in the OUA Playoffs with a date and time to be confirmed for the match up.
