Ridgebacks bolster attack with addition of Avery McConnell
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's soccer team is excited to announce the addition of Avery McConnell to the program ahead of the 2026 season.
A striker from London, Ont., McConnell joins the Ridgebacks following a successful youth career with Alliance FC and A.B. Lucas Secondary School. Known for her attacking ability and pace, she helped Alliance FC capture the 2022-23 Ontario Cup championship while earning MVP honours at the FTF tournament.
At the high school level, McConnell served as a captain and made an immediate offensive impact, scoring six goals in three games while helping her team win a city-wide tournament.
"Avery's a dynamic attacking player who brings pace, creativity, and confidence in 1v1 situations," said Audra Sherman. "She can stretch a backline and has the qualities to pose a consistent threat in the final third."
McConnell will enrol in Educational Psychology at Ontario Tech University this fall.
