Ontario Tech stumble against unbeaten Thunderwolves
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's basketball team suffered their fourth loss of the season against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night.
Taking an early lead, the Thunderwolves outperformed the Ridgebacks with superior field goal (41.0%) and three-point field goal percentages (40.7%). Lakehead maintained their advantage heading into halftime, leading by four points.
The Thunderwolves' offense was driven by standout performances from Chris Sagl (16 points, 7 assists), Harold Santacruz (17 points, 9 rebounds), and Nathan Bilamu (17 points, 5 rebounds), who combined for 50 points. However, Ontario Tech's Keon Baker led all scorers with 24 points, followed by Ayub Nurhussien's 17 points.
Capitalizing on turnovers, Lakehead scored 21 points off Ridgeback miscues and sustained their offensive momentum throughout the second half. The Thunderwolves secured an 85-68 victory, extending their unbeaten record to 8-0, while Ontario Tech's record fell to 4-4.
The Ridgebacks will return to the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center on Saturday, November 23, to face the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
