TORONTO, Ont. — The Ontario Tech men's basketball team dropped a 68–60 decision to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night at the Goldring Centre.
Ontario Tech stayed within reach early, trailing 15–14 after the opening quarter before Toronto used a strong second frame to take a nine-point advantage into halftime. The Ridgebacks continued to battle through the second half but were unable to overcome Toronto's edge on the glass and timely scoring in the third quarter.
Keon Baker led the Ridgebacks with 19 points, while Caleb Kassa added 13 points. Emmanuel Okonkwo recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, anchoring Ontario Tech's presence in the paint.
The Ridgebacks shot 35.4 percent from the field and generated 16 second-chance points, but Toronto's rebounding advantage and perimeter shooting proved to be the difference.
Ontario Tech will look to rebound quickly as they return to action tomorrow on the road against the TMU Bold.
