TORONTO, Ont. — The Ontario Tech women's basketball team dropped a 55–32 decision on the road against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night at the Goldring Centre.
Ontario Tech battled defensively throughout but struggled to find consistency on the offensive end, shooting 16.1 per cent from the field and 2-for-26 from beyond the arc. The Ridgebacks stayed within reach early, trailing 14–9 after the opening quarter, but Toronto gradually built separation through the middle frames and carried a 30–17 advantage into halftime.
The Ridgebacks continued to compete in the second half, holding Toronto to eight points in the third quarter, but were unable to generate enough offense to close the gap.
Kaleah Gosse led Ontario Tech with seven points, while Adra Barnet added six. The Ridgebacks forced 25 turnovers and limited Toronto's perimeter shooting, but were unable to capitalize consistently at the other end.
Ontario Tech is back in action tomorrow when it visits the TMU Bold for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
