Ridgebacks take game 1 with landmark 4–2 win over Queen’s

The Ontario Tech women's hockey team earned the first quarterfinal victory in program history on Wednesday, February 25, defeating the Queen's Gaels 4–2 on the road.

KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team earned the first quarterfinal victory in program history on Wednesday, February 25, defeating the Queen's Gaels 4–2 on the road.
 
Queen's struck just 42 seconds into the opening period, but the Ridgebacks responded with composure and patience. Julia Jackson pulled Ontario Tech even at 19:02 of the second period, finishing off a late push to send the teams into the intermission tied 1–1.
 
The Ridgebacks took control early in the third. Jackson capitalized on the power play just 53 seconds into the frame, with Cassandra Delves setting up the go-ahead goal. Jordanna Connors extended the lead midway through the period on another power-play marker, assisted by Mackenna Krulicki. Zoe Wilson added insurance at even strength to make it 4–1 before Queen's found the back of the net late.
 
Zoe McGee was sharp in goal, turning aside 31 shots to secure the historic win.
