Ottawa spoils Ridgebacks’ home opener at the CRWC
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team dropped its home opener on Thursday night, falling 99–64 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Ontario Tech started strong, briefly leading early in the first quarter, but Ottawa's shooting pace eventually took over. The Gee-Gees shot over 50 per cent from the field and hit 14 three-pointers to build a lead that continued to grow across all four quarters.
Keon Baker led the Ridgebacks with 21 points, while Johan Germain added 10. Mark Stoop chipped in 12 points, including a pair of early threes that helped Ontario Tech stay within reach through the opening frame. Ottawa was powered by a balanced attack, with Owen Kenney scoring a game-high 27 points and strong production from their bench.
The Ridgebacks will look to bounce back on Sunday, November 9, when they host the Carleton Ravens for Jersey Day at the CRWC. Fans wearing any jersey can enter to win a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. World Series jersey at the game.
