Ontario Tech offence clicks in 5–2 win over Queen’s
KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's hockey team continued their strong start to the season with a 5–2 win over the Queen's Gaels on Saturday night at the Memorial Centre.
Justin Svenson opened the scoring for the Ridgebacks late in the first period, evening the game at 1–1 after Queen's had struck first on the power play through Michael Renwick.
Ontario Tech took control in the second frame as Braiden Koran netted the go-ahead goal just over a minute in, followed by Alex Papaspyropoulos extending the lead to 3–1 midway through the period.
Zachary Marquis made it 4–1 early in the third with his second of the season, before Queen's responded through Nolan Hutcheson at 15:46. Jeremy Michaud sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minute, assisted by Nathan Poole and Ben Roode.
Goaltender Edouard Gauthier earned the victory with a solid 31-save performance, while Ian Michelone turned aside 33 shots in the loss for Queen's.
The Ridgebacks will be back on the road Saturday, November 8, when they take on the UQTR Patriotes in Trois-Rivières, Que.
