Ridgebacks blanked by Queen's in Sunday afternoon showdown

The Ontario Tech men's hockey team was shut out 4-0 by the Queen's Gaels in a Sunday afternoon matchup at the Campus Ice Centre.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team was shut out 4-0 by the Queen's Gaels in a Sunday afternoon matchup at the Campus Ice Centre.

Despite a solid effort by Ridgebacks goaltender Beckett Langkow, who made 23 saves, Ontario Tech couldn't capitalize on their offensive opportunities, managing 36 shots on goal. Queen's struck early and often, with Lucas Peric and Owen Lalonde scoring in the first period, Lalonde's goal coming on the power play.

Cameron Tolnai added another power-play marker in the second, while Derek Hamilton sealed the victory with an early third-period tally. Special teams played a key role, with Queen's converting two of five power-play chances, while the Ridgebacks went scoreless on four attempts.

The Ridgebacks will be back at the Campus Ice Centre this Thursday when they take on the UQTR Patrioes for an 11 a.m. school day game.
