Ridgebacks celebrate 77 academic award winners
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ridgebacks held their annual academic brunch, presented by the Office of the Provost, on Tuesday morning and recognized the academic efforts of 77 students.
To go along with the 77 athletes that were honored with Ridgebacks All-Academic awards, there were 55 Ridgebacks student-athletes named OUA Academic Achievement winners and 36 student-athletes named U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians. The brunch culminated in the awarding of the prestigious Bob and Sallie Baun Varsity Scholarships to athletes. The Bob and Sallie Baun Varsity Scholarship is awarded to eight athletes, four men and four women, who are returning student-athletes with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. These student-athletes are outstanding members of our community and have demonstrated excellence in high-performance athletics while exhibiting strong leadership qualities.
This year, the Bob and Sallie Baun Varsity Scholarship was awarded to Jack Sears and Noah Mossavat of men's soccer, Nolan Ford and Braiden Koran of men's hockey, Zoe McGee and Kayla Welk of women's hockey, Maeya Price of women's lacrosse, Felicity Villarin of women's basketball and Tia Schaffer of women's soccer.
