Ontario Tech, YMCA extend student access after successful pilot
OSHAWA, Ont. – Oshawa YMCA and Ontario Tech University are renewing their partnership to get the downtown campus active after a successful pilot program last year.
Students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Education will be able to use the YMCA facilities after showing a valid student ID from September to March.
Last year's program saw over 1,000 students take advantage of the partnership and gain access to a strength training zone, a cardio zone, a sports gymnasium, a running track, and a 25-metre pool.
"Last year's partnership saw an outstanding response and had a significant impact on our downtown students," said Ridgebacks athletic director Audra Sherman. "We remain committed to ensuring our students have access to the resources they need to stay active, and we're pleased to continue our collaboration with the Oshawa YMCA."
