GUELPH, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks fell to the Guelph Gryphons in a thrilling overtime matchup on Friday night, losing 82-76 at the GGAC.
Despite a standout 21-point performance by Zubair Seyed, who also contributed nine assists and six rebounds, the Ridgebacks couldn't overcome a late surge by Guelph. Emmanuel Okonkwo dominated the boards with 11 rebounds, while Caleb Kassa added 13 points.
The Ridgebacks started strong, keeping the score tight in the first quarter, but Guelph capitalized on turnovers, building a 12-point lead late in the second. Ontario Tech fought back in the second half, with Seyed and Keon Baker sparking a fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime. However, Guelph's Eric Armstrong sealed the win with a game-high 25 points, including clutch free throws in the final minutes.
The Ridgebacks will now enjoy a month break during December, but will return on Friday, January 10 for a match up against the Nipissing Lakers.
