OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team picked up a wire-to-wire win on Friday night, defeating the Laurentian Voyageurs 64–49 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Ontario Tech set the tone early, jumping out to a 22–9 lead after the opening quarter and extending the advantage to 45–23 by halftime. The Ridgebacks shot efficiently through the first half and limited Laurentian to just 22.5 per cent shooting for the game.
Keon Baker led all scorers with 23 points, adding six rebounds and three three-pointers, while Mark Stoop recorded 11 rebounds to go along with seven points and three assists. Joakim Gouamba chipped in 12 points off the bench, and Jesse Okeke added four blocks to anchor the defensive effort.
Laurentian showed some push after the break, but Ontario Tech maintained control throughout the second half, holding the Voyageurs to 26 points over the final two quarters to secure the victory.
The Ridgebacks are back in action tomorrow at 8 p.m. when they host the Nipissing Lakers for Taco Night, where they'll also honour their graduating seniors.
