Slow start costly as Ridgebacks fall to Ottawa
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team dropped their home opener 79–38 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Thursday, November 6 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Ottawa built an early lead and maintained control throughout the night, while the Ridgebacks continued to battle and closed the game with their strongest quarter, putting up 15 points in the fourth.
Adra Barnet led Ontario Tech with nine points, with Kaleah Gosse and Ayat Weber adding six each. Amarachi Achioso contributed five points and four rebounds as the Ridgebacks went 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Despite the late surge, Ottawa's efficient shooting and pressure on the ball made the difference.
The Ridgebacks now turn their attention to Sunday, November 9, when they host the Carleton Ravens for Jersey Day, where fans wearing any jersey can enter to win a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. World Series jersey at halftime of the men's game.
