Ridgebacks get speed and athleticism with addition of Jean-Baptiste

The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's soccer program is excited to announce the commitment of Karlia Jean-Baptiste for the 2024 season.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's soccer program is excited to announce the commitment of Karlia Jean-Baptiste for the 2024 season.

The speedy five-foot-two fullback from Markham, Ont. began playing rep-level soccer with the Unionville-Milliken Soccer Club (UMSC) before moving to U17 OPDL in the 2020 season, this year she moved up to the U19 League 1 Reserves. Outside of UMSC, Jean-Baptiste was also selected to join the U-17 Ontario girls provincial Xcel team in 2023.

"Karlia is a dynamic and athletic fullback who can anticipate play and contain players in one-on-one situations," said Ridgebacks women's soccer head coach Audra Sherman. Her comfort and speed on the ball give her the capability to be a threat when joining the attack. We are excited to see her flourish in our environment. "

When Jean-Baptiste arrives on campus in the fall, she will enroll in the Health Sciences program at Ontario Tech.
