Campus Cup returns better than ever

Campus Cup is back and better than ever on Tuesday, September 3 as the Durham Lords and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks soccer teams fight for bragging rights at Vaso's Field.

OSHAWA, Ont. – Campus Cup is back and better than ever on Tuesday, September 3 as the Durham Lords and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks soccer teams fight for bragging rights at Vaso's Field.

This year's festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with more to do than ever featuring a brand-new fun zone with inflatables, free food, t-shirts and more. Test your luck at our well known game; Heads and Tails for a chance to win an iPad and enjoy musical artist, King Daviid, as emcee and DJ throughout the night.

"The games are a chance for new and returning students to connect and start the school year off on the right note," said Durham College Athletic Director, Scott Dennis. "We are excited to welcome students and faculty back to campus for what is shaping to be another amazing year as we officially kickoff the varsity season."

Campus Cup is the longest standing athletic tradition dating back to 2009 when the men's teams took to the field for the first time. Last year, the Durham Lords men's soccer team took home the trophy in a dramatic win on penalties, and the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's soccer team continued their run with a 3-0 win.

"Campus Cup is one of the biggest, and most exciting events all year," said Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Athletic Director, Scott Barker. "It's an amazing introduction to what the Ridgebacks and Lords have to offer to new and returning students. We can't wait to see everyone out at the event."

The women's teams will play at 6 p.m., followed by the men's competition at 7 p.m.
