OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team put up a fight in 87-53 loss against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday night, and saw promising performances from their young stars.

After one quarter, the Ridgebacks trailed by just one possession, with several key buckets from Allie Dunnett (Sussex, N.B.), Felicity Villarin (Calgary, Alta.)  and Adra Barnet (Winnipeg, Man.) keeping them within striking range before Laurier was able to pull away with the lead in the second quarter.

Dunnett was tied in scoring for the Ridgebacks with 14 points, including four made threes. Villarin also had 14 points along with six rebounds and two assists. Barnet also chipped in 13 points, two rebounds and three assists.

The game was also home to two other events as the Ridgebacks welcomed members of the Hunters Kids Club court side, and over 80 guests from the women's hockey team gathered for a family dinner on the western end of the court.

The Ridgebacks will now prepare for their final road game of the season, a stop in Thunder Bay on Saturday, February 10 to face the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
