Queen's spoil Ridgebacks home opener
OSHAWA, Ont. –The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks were celebrating the start of a new OUA season, but it was the Queen's Gaels who took home a 4-0 win on Friday afternoon.
Mattson Strickler picked up her first goal of the afternoon 20 minutes into the contest, assisted by Morgan Fenton. She followed it up with her second goal just after the half, and Queen's seized the moment to find a third goal from Brinley Bjornson just minutes later.
Lily Coish would cap the game for the Gaels with a fourth goal in the dying minutes.
The Ridgebacks will now turn their eyes towards one of the biggest events of the year, Campus Cup, on Tuesday, September 3, where they will face off against the Durham Lords and look to continue their ten-year streak of victories at the event. Gates open at 5 p.m., and games begin at 6 p.m. with several new stations for students to show off their school spirit.
