Waterloo takes down Ridgebacks
WATERLOO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's hockey team fell to the Waterloo Warriors 6-1 in a road game Friday night.
Waterloo jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first period, with Kassidy McCarthy scoring twice in the opening two minutes, assisted by Carly Orth. Orth also scored on a power play later in the period.
Ontario Tech's Cassandra Delves notched their only goal in the second, with help from Julianne Davidson and Erin Lawless. However, Waterloo's Nikki McDonald, Gracey Smith, and Tatum James added goals, securing the win.
Ontario Tech goalie Ariella Merlino made 34 saves, while Waterloo's Kara Mark stopped 23 shots.
The Ridgebacks will have a chance to quickly bounce back when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, November 9.
