Men's soccer bounce back with dramatic draw against TMU
OSHAWA, Ont – The Ontario Tech men's soccer team bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dramatic 2-2 draw against the visiting TMU Bold.
Chris Campoli opened the scoring for the Bold early in the first half with a header finding the back of the net. Campoli would leave the game just before half with an arm injury, and the Ridgebacks began to press for their first goal of the game, with several close chances before the half time whistle.
In the 59th minute, Jack Sears (Ajax, Ont.) helped Alexander Irwin (London, Ont.) tie the game. Both teams fought through a physical second half, having five yellow cards issued throughout.
The Bold took the lead again with a goal from Jevontae Layne in the 84th minute; however, Kairo Coore (Whitby, Ont.) responded quickly with help from Alex Maadanian (Markham, Ont.) to find the games final goal.
The Ridgebacks will head out on the road to Laurentian on Saturday. September 21 before completing the northern road trip the next night at Nipissing. Ontario Tech will be back at Vaso's Field on September 29 when they take on the Trent Excalibur.
